Stephen Kushner (MBA) is the Past President (28 years) of the Merit Contractors Association of Alberta. He facilitated the founding of provincial Merit organizations throughout Canada and the establishment of a national organization. Considered to be a pioneer of open shop construction practices in Canada, Stephen also oversaw the growth of the industry’s largest group insurance program and the Merit College of Construction. He was a member of Alberta’s Labor Relations Board for twelve years. Stephen has a proven track record of achieving major legislative and regulatory changes both provincially and nationally in areas of labor law, apprenticeship and construction industry regulations. He has skills in operating and growing large not-for-profit organizations working with Boards, developing and implementing strategic plans and creating public relations campaigns.
