September 22, 2023

Elliot Holland’s recent Canadian Citizenship ceremony over Zoom.

I was lucky enough to have the chance to ask Elliot Holland a few questions, both business and personal.

Question 1: How long have you been with IMC and what inspired you to join the team?

Elliot: “I have been with IMC since 2019. I enjoy the flexibility to work on projects that interest me, on my own schedule.”

Question 2: What are you most proud of in your career thus far?

Elliot: “I am very proud of the work that we did with the community of Nahanni Butte to negotiate a new co-management agreement for the Nahanni National Park. Nahanni Butte is a very special community and the Nahanni is a very special place.”

Question 3: What advice do you have for people starting out in your field?

Elliot: “It is a lot easier to be great at something that not a lot of people want to do – for me, that is working in northern and remote areas where professionals are not always willing to travel.”

Question 4: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Elliot: “In the winter, curling and skiing. In the summer, running and cycling.”

Question 5: What is your all-time favourite movie or book?

Elliot:  “I don’t have an all-time favourite, but I just saw the Blackberry movie and I really enjoyed the part where Balsillie barks at Lazaridis “You said they were the best engineers in the world,” who fires back with, “I said they’re the best engineers in Canada.” As a new Canadian who immigrated from the US, I think this captured something about this country very well.”

Thank you Elliot for sharing with us!
