
Born in Germany, he began his career at Siemens Inc., a global engineering conglomerate with a technologist degree in Telecommunications. Robert’s early career evolved in the sales division for enterprise telecommunications solutions in Germany. He obtained a B.A. in Business Administration (state certified MBA) at the AKAD University in Düsseldorf. He worked for Siemens Inc. headquarter operations in Munich and later Spain (Madrid) as an executive in sales and marketing. He completed an 18-month executive management program with Duke University, Fuqua School of Business. In 2000, Robert moved to Canada for a start-up venture as Vice President and Co-founder of Foodteller™. In 2002 Robert joined Johnson Controls Inc., a global leader in Facility solutions in capacity of Branch General Manager for Northern Alberta and later in the role of Director Higher Education, responsible for corporate business development with Universities and Colleges across Canada. In April 2008, he joined the Government of Alberta, Treasury Board as Senior Advisor in the Strategic Capital Planning Division. In his capacity he has worked and advised on the procurement, negotiation and closure of two large public private partnership (P3) projects, SEST (Ring Road) and ASAP2 (Schools). Robert has worked with numerous ministries on the development of opportunity papers, business case documents and cross-ministry initiatives. He was the lead representative for Treasury Board on the Carbon Capture Sequestration (CCS) project, which earned the team a Premiers Award 2010, the oil and gas investment competitiveness initiative and the Bitumen Royalty in Kind upgrading project (BRIK) which led to the construction of a new refinery in the AB heartland. Robert has completed the GoA’s Senior & Executive Manager Development Program (SEMPD) at the University of Alberta. In 2015 he joined Stuart Olson in a national role and in 2019 led economic diversification as Director for the County of Parkland. Robert speaks and writes in English, German and Spanish proficiently.
