
Al has extensive environmental regulatory expertise having worked in several public and private sector roles over the last 40 years. This work included direct experience in the public sector, working with increasing responsibility in air quality control, environmental monitoring, standard setting, approvals, investigation and enforcement and emergency response, culminating for almost 5 years as the Assistant Deputy Minister with broad responsibility for the Environmental Regulatory Service in the Department of Environment. He then spent over 15 years as the Regional Director for the Canadian Chemical Producers’ Association / Chemistry Industry Association of Canada where he continued his focus on managing environmental issues. Al also spent 6 years as a member of the Alberta Environmental Appeals Board. Al has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and an M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta.
