Stephen Kushner

Stephen is the retired President of the Merit Contractors Association, where he grew the organization from 10 firms to over 1,500 companies representing 65,000 construction workers nationwide, managing a staff of 50 and annual revenues of $150 million. He has extensive governance experience, having served on the Alberta Labour Relations Board, University of Alberta Senate, and as president of multiple community organizations. Widely regarded as an effective government relations professional, he has led successful initiatives to change provincial and federal laws and regulations. Since retiring, Stephen has advised not-for-profit boards, provided labour relations counsel to contractors and multinationals, served as a trustee for a major Western Canadian group health plan, and managed a family business in land development and property management.
