
Graduating with a degree in Economics from the University of Alberta in 1964, Ted had a distinguished career in the agricultural industry. Elected as a Director of United Grain Growers Limited in 1973, he held several leadership roles including Vice-President (1979-1989), Senior Vice-President and CEO (1989-1990), and President and Chairman (1990-2001). He later became President and Chairman of Agricore United (2001-2003). His extensive directorship roles include Prince Rupert Grain Ltd. (1990-2001), the Grain Insurance & Guarantee Co. (1990-1996), and the Royal Bank of Canada (1992-2000). He contributed to advisory groups on trade and agricultural policy, including the Sectoral Advisory Group on International Trade and the Winnipeg Agriculture Canada Research Station Advisory Committee. Additionally, Ted chaired the Canada Grains Council and the Chamber of Maritime Commerce and served on the boards of United Oilseeds Ltd., Enmax Corporation, the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance, and the Alberta Audit Committee.
