The following highlights how we have helped our forestry clients enhance their chance for project and organizational success.

 

  • Large Forestry Company

Project:               

Client required outsourced project development support with key projects to help reach short and long term deliverables and objectives.

Enhancement:

IMC provided outsourced project development and management services for various projects that included a project to generate and export biomass/electricity, indigenous economic development, rail infrastructure development, and due diligence related to a  large solid wood project. We also provided support with due diligence, financial analysis and modeling, commercial negotiation support and project management.

 

 

  • Large Forestry Company

Project:               

Client required regulatory insights as it was converting an old generation energy system to a newer more productive process.

Enhancement:

IMC provided government relations and regulatory assistance to enhance the success of the conversion and new product opportunities.

 

 

  • Forestry Product Innovator

Project:

Client was exploring potential Alberta locations for a wood pellet manufacturing facility.

Enhancement:

IMC conducted a feedstock and infrastructure assessment as well as a site specific comparative analysis of the most promising site locations.

 

 

  • Private Investment Firm

Project:

Client was interested in purchasing a paper mill out of bankruptcy.

Enhancement:

IMC acted on behalf of the client in managing many aspects of the transaction and operational program including having full responsibility for the key lender, government, and supplier negotiations that were required to close the transaction.

  

 

  • Pulp & Paper Mill

Project: 

Client was seeking to develop a new lightweight coated paper. 

Enhancement:

IMC coordinated the project development process, including securing government commitments for fibre rights and infrastructure funding.

 

 

  • Industry Assessment Report

Project:

Client wanted a clear understanding of the aspen hardwood lumber market in North Western North America.

Enhancement:

IMC produced a report focused on aspen lumber characteristics compared to other hardwoods; price histories for aspen lumber compared to other hardwoods; the range of potential users of various grades of aspen lumber.

 

 

  • Regional Sawmill

Project:

Client requested support with a Forest Management negotiation and related regulatory and policy issues.            

Enhancement:

IMC assisted with negotiation of a Forest Management Agreement with the Alberta Government and provided related regulatory and policy support.

 

 

  • Paper Company

Project: 

Client required management assistance as it restructured and transitioned a new operational plan and organization.              

Enhancement:

IMC acted as Director and Vice-President during the restructuring, with focus on overseeing financial, woodlands/fibre supply, and regulatory and key supplier relationships.

 

 

  • Province of Alberta

Project:

Client required negotiation support related to a land exchange and management assistance with large resort.

Enhancement:

IMC negotiated several a large land exchange associated to the resort.

 

 

  • Province of Alberta

Project:

Client requested a feasibility study to utilize non-wood fibres in pulp.       

Enhancement:

IMC undertook project manager role of feasibility study, and developed a financial model for a proposed expansion project and initiated a program to secure a supply of recycled papers.

 

  

  • Province of Alberta

Project:

Client requested support with forest management agreement negotiations.    

Enhancement:

IMC provided negotiation and analytical support.

 

 

  • Alberta Municipality

Project: 

Client wanted to assess economic opportunities available in the wake of the closure of large solid wood facility.     

Enhancement:

IMC researched alternative business models, and conducted due diligence related to the viability of various process and product configurations for the facility and existing resources.

 

 

  • Professional Forestry Association

Project: 

Through a member driven task force, the client was developing a new strategic plan to deal with a dramatically changing environment.     

Enhancement:  

IMC assisted with helping to organize the work of the task force, develop a strategic framework, advise on strategic options, and present the resulting plan at association member workshops.
